About Me
Hi, I'm Kim!
I love programming - I love the challenges it has, especially problems where I really have to work for the answers. Challenges are motivation, not roadblocks.
I was originally a math major because I loved the problem-solving that math entailed. I had to take one programming course for my major, which I dreaded. I ended up loving it so much that I changed my major before the end of one course - I knew I had found my passion. My love since then has only grown as I continue to learn more and overcome different challenges.
Below you will find some of the projects I have worked on. I've recently taken up an interest in web development (and decided to build this site from scratch for fun), so this site is another one of my projects.
Projects
Molecule Flashcards

I worked with a team to port an Android version of Molecule Flashcards to iOS using Swift for this educational flashcard game. My job included creating the UI based on the Android version and making the various components (buttons, lists, etc.) work.
After porting the app, my team switched focus to testing and fixing bugs on the existing ExSciTecH website and server. I also added a progress bar to the website's flashcard application, which was a new addition to the game for all of its versions.
Geopod

A project I got the opportunity to contribute to when I worked as a Research Assistant during the summer of 2014. Geopod is a Java-based plugin for IDV (Integrated Data Viewer). The plugin allows users to navigate through a 3D environment as they experience different atmospheric conditions. My job included testing and modifying the existing code, updating Geopod's website and user documentation, as well as writing Windows scripts and Bash scripts to install the plugin on Windows and Linux operating systems.
SegUE: UML Editor

For my Software Engineering course my team and I designed and developed a UML Editor in Java over the course of the semester. My job was to create the GUI and integrate in the functionality for menu items and buttons.
Know Your Facts

This is a program I wrote in C# for fun (a project placed on hold while I first finished my B.S. and then have changed gears to learning more about web development). It serves as a replacement to traditional flashcards for younger students. The application is focused on providing an experience catered to what the user needs to review based on his or her input response and response time.
